Water

In Australia, despite living in the driest inhabited continent,we use about 200-400,000 litres of water per household annually.

In areas connected to water mains, we can work towards cutting back the amount of drinking quality water we draw from these mains. We can keep track of our efforts using our water bills by comparing our water consumption as stated on bills with the same time last year.

Not every water need requires drinking quality water, so we can also consider alternative supplies for our water needs, such as rainwater and greywater. Like saving energy, saving water will also save you some money, particularly if you’re saving water that you would otherwise have to heat.

In the pages in this section you’ll find a range of ways to make your home and lifestyle more water-wise. Read through these pages so that you will have a clear idea of how your efforts can get results.
